Mustangs End Tournament Short, 56-40 against Williams College

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Stevenson women's basketball concluded the Morin Memorial  Tournament at Williams College against the Ephs with a 56-40 heartbreaker.
 
Stevenson senior forward Morgan DeBeary finished with 10 points and three steals, and teammate senior forward Maleah Smith added eight defensive rebounds.
 
The Ephs secured their lead early with a sequence of layups from senior forward Maddy Mandyck and senior guard/forward Mia Holtze. The Mustangs got on the board two minutes in with a jumper from senior guard Morgan Pennick. While the Mustangs added to their total  in the opening 10 minutes, the Ephs secured the quarter by 5 points. In a back-and-forth contest before the half, the Ephs remained on top, ending the half ahead 39-22, Following a layup from Destiny Towns and a free throw from sophomore guard Emori Jeselskis.
 
The Ephs scored often in the second half, ending the quarter at 44-29.  DeBeary and Smith added defensive rebounds just minutes in, but their work was not enough to slow the Ephs. The Mustangs finished the game with 40 points thanks to a 3-pointer from Jeselskis, with a final score of 56-40.
 
The Mustangs added two losses to their record during the weekend, and are now 1-2 overall. The Ephs remain undefeated to conclude the Morin Memorial tournament following a 76-69-win Saturday evening against Albright College and improve their record to 3-0.

The Mustangs return home for a game against Salisbury University on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. The Ephs travel to Springfield College for a match on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m.
