Owings Mills, Md - The 2022 cross country season comes to a close this weekend as Graduate Student Isabelle Pardew heads to Lansing, Michigan as she earned a chance to run at the NCAA DIII National Championships.
The 2022 season's best result came at the Osprey Open where the men placed third (111) and the women finished fourth (17) out of nine teams. Junior Hayden Schindler clocked a 5k time of 17:18.31, giving him 25th overall. Senior Lauren Mellstrom clocked a personal-best 5k time of 20:52.23, giving her 24th overall.
Schindler led the Mustangs at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regionals, hosted by Lock Haven, with a solid 8k time of 28:01.3. The Mustangs - who had all five runners finish within 1-minute and 20 seconds of each other - placed 21st overall out of 32 teams with a score of 632.Â
Isabelle Pardew became the second female Mustang in program history (Emily Gates - 2019) to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships after placing fourth overall at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. "To be able to do any of this is really awesome" said Isabelle as she talked about her battle back from injury to placing fourth at Regionals. "Getting the experience of what its like at Nationals and hopefully aim to top-40 which is all-american, so that is the goal right now." - Coach Berdan on the goal to the National Championship.Â
