Women's Soccer ends season with a 1-1 tie against Alvernia

Owings Mills, Md. – The Stevenson women's soccer team wrapped up their season with a 1-1 tie at Alvernia University Saturday night.

Mackenzie Grove tallied the first goal of her career for the Mustangs, while Olivia Malone scored the Golden Wolves' lone goal.

Mustangs' junior goalkeeper Country Wysokowski was tested twice, making two saves before her teammate Kelly Schultz recorded Stevenson's first shot on goal at 28:18. The Golden Wolves countered quickly by forcing Wysokowski to make two more saves. Alvernia's Malone found the back of the net at 32:08, assisted by Haley Dougherty.

The Mustangs began the second half on attack as Samantha Wilson and Michelle Mesquita tested Alvernia's goalkeeper Brynn Bock. After another Wilson shot, Stevenson's first year forward Katie Kocent was dealt a yellow card at 75:57. About 10 minutes later, Stevenson's Wilson fired a shot on goal which was saved, but a rebound came right to Grove as she chipped it in to tie the game at 1-1.

The Mustangs finish the season with a record of 1-13-4 (0-5-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference). The Golden Wolves finish their season at 4-9-5 (1-4-3 MAC). Neither team will advance to the MAC Championship playoffs.
