OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson men's soccer brought early game energy for a 2-1 win against the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen on Saturday evening at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs dominated in shots with a total of 20 to the visitors' eight. Senior forward
Tiago Silva got the team on the board early in the game's second minute. The win for the Mustangs was secured just before the end of the first half with a goal from junior forward
Jack Accorsi.
The Mustangs started hot with an attempt from junior midfielder
Andy Portillo in the second minute. Following the first goal for the Mustangs, minutes later two attempts went wide. As the clock ticked, the Dutchmen answered with an equalizer in the 44
th minute. The Mustangs sprung into swift action and broke the equalizer seconds later with Accorsi's goal.
The Mustangs ticked up shots in the second half, taking just as many shots as in the first.. In the game's final minutes, senior goalkeeper
Kristian Slaby earned his third save of the match, pushing to make sure another equalizer would not occur. The game ended 2-1 with the Mustangs on top.
Stevenson University improves to 5-7-5 overall and 4-3 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play. The Dutchmen fall to 7-7-2 overall and 2-2-2 in MAC play.
