Women’s soccer ties game with York, 1-1

Owings Mills, Md. - Stevenson's women's soccer team recorded their third tie in a conference matchup with York College (Pa.) Tuesday night, 1-1. 
 
Mustang junior forward Michelle Mesquita recorded her third goal of the season, and York's goal was scored by junior forward Ashlynn Wegar
 
SU junior goalkeeper Courtney Wysokowski was tested early, with two York shots in the first five minutes.  First-year midfielder Kayla Gerbes received a yellow card just before York's Ashlynn Wegar opened the scoring at 14:51, picking the top right corner behind Wysokowski. Later at 32:30, York's senior midfielder Erin Snyder hit the crossbar from 10 yards out, and the Spartans kept the Mustangs hemmed in their own zone for most of the half.
 
York opened the second half with two shots wide of the goal before Mustang first year forward Caitlin Bridgers had a good chance at tying the game. Just after, Wysokowski made two diving saves at the 51st and 53rdminutes, bailing out the defense. York's first-year defender Keziah Boyce was issued a yellow card at 74:40, and about 10 minutes later, Mesquita tied the game 1-1 at 86:02, assisted by Cassidy Butler
 
With the tie, Stevenson moves to 1-11-3 (0-3-2 in the MAC). The Mustangs are next in action at home against Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, Oct. 22 with kickoff set for 7 p.m. York moves to 8-3-4 (3-0-2 MAC). The Spartans next take the field at Eastern University on Saturday, Oct. 22 with kickoff scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
