Barcless Nets Hat-Trick in 5-0 Win Over King's

PITTSTON, Pa.- The Stevenson women's hockey team completed a series sweep over King's (Pa.) after blanking the Monarchs 5-0, Saturday afternoon.

  • The Mustangs recorded two goals in the first period to take a 2-0 lead over King's. At the 8:20 minute mark, Trinity Barcless netted her first goal of the game with an assist from Elizabeth Gaudreau
  • For the next several minutes, Stevenson and King's went back and forth trading shots until 14:09 when Barcless added her second goal of the game. Robyn Caswell and Paige Sullivan assisted on the goal. 
  • Towards the end of the period at the 17:28 minute mark, Stevenson had a power-play opportunity where Hannah Labbe recorded three shots on goal but they were saved by the Monarch's goalie. 

  • Stevenson held control throughout the second period. The Mustangs fired off six consecutive shots around the 4:14 minute mark and they fired off seven more shots in a row at the 11:32 minute mark. 
  • With five minutes remaining in the period, Gaudreau and Megan Swick assisted Barcless for the third goal of the game. 
  • Once again at the end of the period, the Mustangs had a power-play opportunity but they couldn't capitalize on a goal. Stevenson took four shots during the play. 

  • King's opened the final period with possession as they took three shots in a row on goal but all were saved by Olivia DeGuire
  • Stevenson took over control for the rest of the third period as the Mustangs totaled 13 shots. 
  • About midway through the period, Cassie Campbell scored her sixth goal of the season. 
  • With just 15 seconds remaining, Ashlyn Bray recorded one final goal for the Mustangs on an empty net as Stevenson won, 5-0. 

  • Barcless netted her third career hat trick with her last coming last season in the 7-1 win over Lebanon Valley (3/5/2021). 
  • Six different Mustangs recorded points. 
  • Gaudreau added two assists and had a +4 rating on the day. 
  • DeGuire made 11 saves in the net. 
  • Stevenson totaled 52 shots while King's just recorded 11. 

  • Stevenson travels to Lebanon Valley Friday, January 28 at 4 PM.
