Coleman Totals Career-High 28 Points as Mustangs Win, 71-61 against Lebanon Valley

OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The Stevenson women's basketball team defeated Lebanon Valley, 71-61 as they started their second round of MAC Commonwealth play.

  • Stevenson started off the scoring with an Olivia Coleman layup. At the 8:45 minute mark, Kellie Johnson added a layup of her own as the Mustangs led, 5-2. 
  • Lebanon Valley jumped to an 11-5 lead after a Dutchman three-pointer. 
  • With four minutes remaining in the quarter, the Dutchman added a jumper to extend their lead to 13-9. 
  • Following a Dutchman timeout, Morgan DeBeary added a free throw with Lebanon Valley in the lead by six. 
  • Coleman closed out the first quarter with a last-second jumper as Stevenson trailed, 20-14. 

  • To start the second quarter K. Johnson added a layup and then two free throws to cut the Dutchmen's lead, 22-18. 
  • The two teams traded points for the next couple of minutes before LVC made two free throws at the 6:52 minute mark. 
  • Following two Mustang free throws, K. Johnson picked up a layup after rebounding the free throw. On the same play, K. Johnson was fouled and she added a free throw of her own to bring the Mustangs within three of LVC. 
  • At the 4:12 minute mark, Laci Johnson assisted Karleigh Leo as she stepped back for a three as Stevenson trailed, 30-28. 
  • The Mustangs kept it rolling as they picked up four points on two-second chances as K. Johnson and Coleman each added a layup.
  • At the 1:21 minute mark, Coleman tied up the game at 34 as the teams went into the locker room at halftime tied up. 

  • Stevenson opened up the shooting in the third quarter, at the 7:29 minute mark Coleman added a jump shot. The Mustangs gained a 41-34 lead as Lebanon Valley has been unable to make a shot.
  • About a minute later, Morgan Pennick ran inside for a layup to extend the Mustangs lead, 43-34. 
  • DeBeary extended the Mustangs lead by double digits after she added a layup. 
  • The Mustangs kept it rolling at the 2:40 minute mark. After an L. Johnson jumper the Mustangs led by 15 against the Dutchmen. 
  • Lebanon Valley ended the quarter with a jump shot. The Dutchman trailed, 55-43. 

  • At the 7:58 minute mark, Pennick sunk a shot to give Stevenson a 59-49 lead. 
  • Denia Campbell picked up a layup with one second on the shot clock and a foul for one free throw.
  • Lebanon Valley crept closer with just over two minutes remaining after a Dutchman free throw, Stevenson led, 66-59.  
  • Coleman banked her 28th point of the game after a free throw with a minute remaining the Mustangs led, 67-59. 
  • With 37 seconds remaining Campbell sunk two free throws to bring the Mustangs to lead to 69-59 over Lebanon Valley. 
  • With eight seconds remaining, Aysia Ferguson added two free throws to end the scoring for the game as the Mustangs won, 71-61. 

  • K. Johnson second double-double of the season.
  • The Mustangs went on an 11-0 run in the third quarter to secure their win. 
  • Coleman posted 27 pts against Widener (1/11/2020) as her previous game career record. 
  • Coleman was just shy of a career rebound record as she totaled 19. Her current record is 20 rebounds that was against Widener (1/11/2020). 
  • Stevenson totaled 23 second-chance points and 44 points in the paint. 
  • The Mustangs shot 41% while Lebanon Valley shot 42.6%. 

  • Stevenson host Mary Washington this coming Monday at 6 PM.
