ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.- Stevenson field hockey fell 3-2 at St. Mary's (Md.), Saturday afternoon in their season opener. 

• Three minutes into the first quarter, St. Mary's, Hayden Kesner found the back of the cage for the Seahawk's first goal. 
• Four minutes later, the Mustangs tied up the game when Veronica Maring found Riley Sullivan after a Stevenson corner. 

• St. Mary's held possession at the beginning of the quarter as they put up two shots, which were both saved by freshman goalie, Rachel Barker. 
• Three minutes later, the Mustangs gained possession and were awarded two corners. 
• In the 27th minute, Kate Stevens from the Seahawks found the goal to take the lead, 2-1

• The Mustangs started off by taking two corners in the 34th minute of the game. 
• St. Mary's took three shots during the quarter but all were unsuccessful. 

• In the 51st minute, after Maring put in a corner for the Mustangs. Maring passed the ball to Carolyn Braziel who then passed the ball to Rylee Leakway for another Mustang goal.
• Leakway's goal tied up the game 2-2. 
• About six minutes later, St. Mary's was awarded a penalty stroke. Seahawks, Gabrielle Corder missed the goal for a Barker save. 
• Another minute later, the Seahawks again held possession. After a shot and another save by Barker, St. Mary's came back seconds later to put the ball in the cage. 

• Junior, Maring added two assists on the day. 
• St. Mary's held a 23-5 advantage in shots. 
• The Mustangs held a 10-4 advantage in corners.
• Freshman goalie, Barker made 11 saves in her collegiate debut. 

• The Mustangs return home tomorrow for their season home opener against Gettysburg. Game time is 1:00 PM at Mustang Stadium.
