OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University women's volleyball team opened the 2021 season with a pair of 3-0 victories over Misericordia and Coast Guard Friday night at the Haverford College tournament.

• Set scores were 25-13, 25-14, 25-16.
• First year Sophia Eckerd led the Mustangs with eight kills, while senior Lauryn Davis totaled seven.
• Junior Kayla Vaeth racked up 14 digs.
• First year Makala Thompson tallied 15 assists with senior Mackenzie Blevins finishing with seven.
• Blevins also finished with five service aces.
• Stevenson (2-0) hit .217 as a team while holding Misericordia (0-3) to .000 hitting.

• Set scores were 25-18, 27-25, 25-17.
• Senior Piper Connors totaled eight kills and 12 digs.
• Junior Shannon Baily registered eight kills and three block assists.
• Eckerd chipped in with six kills.
• Vaeth matched Connors for the team lead with 12 digs.
• Sarah Straub totaled six blocks (one solo).
• Thompson handed out 11 assists.
• The Mustangs hit .190 as a team.

• Friday turned into the Mustangs' opener after Stevenson's scheduled opener Wednesday at Johns Hopkins was suspended due to a power outage.
• The Mustangs open their season 2-0 for the third time in four seasons.

• Stevenson returns to action in the Haverford Tournament Saturday, facing Stockton at 10 am before taking on the host Fords at noon.
• The Mustangs' home and MAC Commonwealth opener is set for Wednesday as they host conference newcomer York (Pa.) at 7 pm at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
