OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Visiting Eastern University prevailed 3-2 in MAC Commonwealth women's volleyball action at Stevenson Tuesday night, dealing the Mustangs their first-ever setback in MAC Commonwealth play.  Set scores were 21-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-15, 16-14.

• Stevenson (7-2, 1-1) jumped out to an early 7-3 lead following a block by Sarah Straub and Sophia Eckerd.
• Eastern (8-1, 2-0) closed a 21-14 deficit to 22-21 with a 7-1 spurt.
• After a block by Darian Dildy and Shannon Baily, back-to-back Baily kills closed out the set.

• The Mustangs again started hot in the second, pulling out to an 8-2 advantage.
• The guests scored 14 of the next 18 points and took a 16-12 lead on a Kaylyn Zeigler kill.
• Stevenson chipped away and got within one, 18-17, following a Straub kill.
• The Eagles scored seven of the final 10 points in the frame to level the match.

• Stevenson never trailed in the third, going up 14-8 following a block by Straub and Baily.
• After Eastern pulled within three, 17-14, the Mustangs closed with an 8-2 spurt.
• A Dildy kill closed out the frame.

• Leading 10-9, the Eagles took advantage of a pair of Mustang attack errors to extend their lead to 13-9.
• Eastern closed on a 7-1 run to send the match to a deciding set.

• Eastern scored six of the set's first seven points and held an 11-6 lead following a Mustang attack error.
• Trailing 12-8, Stevenson reeled off four straight points to the the set 12-12 on an Emily Pellini service ace.
• After a service error, a Baily kill and an Eastern attack error put the hosts on top 14-13 and serving for the match.
• Eastern staved off match point with a kill then took advantage of two Mustang attack errors to close out the win.
• The final set featured four ties and three lead changes.

• Stevenson got 13 kills and four blocks from Baily, while Connors finished with 12 kills and 11 digs.
• Straub totaled eight block assists while Eckerd finished with seven.
• Eckerd tallied six kills and Straub four.
• Kayla Vaeth racked up 23 digs, her ninth straight match with double digit digs to start the season.
• Mackenzie Blevins recorded 23 assists, with Makala Thompson adding 11.
• Eastern, which hit .168 for the match, placed four in double figures in kills.  The Eagles limited Stevenson to .123 hitting.
• Stevenson suffered its first-ever MAC Commonwealth loss since joining the conference in 2012.  It won its first 67 conference regular season matches and was 83-0 including MAC Commonwealth tournament action.
• The last conference regular season loss for the Mustangs came September 21, 2011, as the Mustangs fell 3-1 to Salisbury in a Capital Athletic Conference match, extending the conference match regular season win streak to 72 including the CAC.

• Stevenson is back in action Wednesday night, hosting Gettysburg in a 7 pm non-league match at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
