Box Score REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey sophomore Ashlyn Bray netted her first goal of the season but it was enough as sixth-seeded Manhattanville scored four times en route to a, 4-1, United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) quarterfinal victory over the second-seeded Mustangs Thursday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
- The Valiants (4-4-0) put the offensive pressure on right away as the visitors fired a shot on net in the opening 40 seconds of the contest.
- Down the other end, the Mustangs (9-4-0) responded as sophomore Karly Aguirre tested goaltender, Franny Gerardi, in the opening minute.
- Following four straight shots by Manhattanville, the visitors were whistled for the first penalty of the game at the 6:53 mark.
- After a shorthanded shot that was stopped by first year, Sidney Hearn, Bray recorded the lone shot of the power play attempt.
- At the 11:17 mark and after a Mustang turnover, the Valiants took the lead as Hannah Beckman beat Hearn with a shot from the top of the left face-off circle.
- With 1:41 remaining in the period, the visitors took a, 2-0, lead as Tianna Lopes scored from the same spot as Beckman following a turnover in the neutral zone.
- The Mustangs started the period with the first four shots with Gerardi knocking all four aside.
- Stevenson was called for its first penalty of the game just 2:45 into the frame but juniors Breanna Crosson and Ally Gibson recorded blocked shots.
- Just one second after the penalty expired, Manhattanville pushed its lead to three as Tia Martignetti netted the even-strength goal.
- At the midway point of the period, Hearn stopped four straight shots all during the same shift before Stevenson responded with five of the final six shots.
- Stevenson went on its second power play opportunity at the 7:09 mark but Gerardi kept the hosts scoreless after back-to-nacl saves on shots by junior Tea Ferrara.
- Just prior to the midway point of the period, the Mustangs went back on the power play before earning a five-on-three advantage for 29 seconds.
- With five seconds left in the two-player advantage, Bray sent a wrister from the point to the back of the net, getting helpers by Gibson and Ferrara.
- Hearn was pulled in favor of an extra skater with 1:09 remaining in regulation with the Valiants taking advantage and scoring an empty net goal with 25 seconds left.
- Stevenson outshot Manhattanville, 33-28, including, 16-1, in the third period.
- The Mustangs finished 1-for-4 on the power play while killing off its lone penalty.
- It was the first goal of the season for Bray.
- Hearn finished with 24 saves in net.
