Mustang Women Defeat Albright at Home

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball seniors Olivia Coleman, Brandi Hall, and Denia Campbell each scored in double figures on Friday night against Albright. Coleman scored 20 points, Hall with 14, and Campbell with 11. The Mustangs outlasted the Lions, 65-53 to collect their third win of the season.

  • 32 seconds into the first quarter, a Campbell layup put Stevenson (3-5, 3-5 MACC) on the board, 2-0.
  • The Mustangs controlled the beginning four minutes of the half leading 8-6 until two Brady Wassel free throws tied the game for Albright (5-3, 3-3 MACC) 8-8 at the 5:51 mark.
  • Two Maddie O'Hare free throws at the 5:25 mark lifted the Lions up by two points over the Mustangs, 10-8. 
  • The lead changed two more times until a Hall layup at the 2:49 mark set the Mustangs up to score the final 11 points of the quarter.
  • With three seconds remaining in the first quarter, Campbell hit a three to make it a 23-12 game.

  • Coleman put up two layups in the opening 1:20 of the second quarter.
  • At the 5:15 mark, Campbell extended the Mustangs lead by 17 with a layup, 33-16.
  • In the final two minutes of the first half, Albright held a 4-1 run over the Mustangs to come within 14 of the Mustangs.

  • In the opening four minutes of the second half, the Mustangs held an 8-1 run to extend their lead by 21 points, 44-23.
  • Stevenson held Albright scoreless for almost four minutes until a two Maggie O'Hare free throws at the 1:22 mark.
  • 29 seconds remaining in the third quarter, a Hall layup makes it a 52-27 game for the Mustangs.

  • At the 8:48 mark, a Wassel layup got the Lions within 25 of the Mustangs, Coleman responded with a layup at the 8:27 mark, and 20 seconds later Emma Blewett put in a basket to come back within 25.
  • Lions held a 7-2 run over the Mustangs capped by a O'Hare three for Albright to come back within 20 of the Mustangs, 58-38.
  • After a Morgan Debeary layup at the 4:02 mark, she was able to get in one free throw for the Mustangs at the 4:02 mark.
  • Albright held a 12-4 run over the Mustangs in the final four minutes of play.
  • With 51 seconds remaining in the game, Amina Rauf hit two three's for the Lions to end the game with the Mustangs winning, 65-53.

  • Stevenson shot 38.6% while Albright 32.8%.
  • The hosts outrebounded the visitors 44-40.
  • Stevenson collected 10 good free throws while Albright had nine.
  • The Mustangs had four fastbreak points while the Lions had six.
  • Coleman had 20 points and eight rebounds.
  • Hall had 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals.

  • Stevenson wraps up their regular season play next week against Lebanon Valley, the Mustangs visit Lebanon Valley on Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. before hosting the dutchmen on Friday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
