Box Score REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey senior Trinity Barcless recorded five points while first year Karly Aguirre totaled four as the Mustangs scored four unaswered goals in the third period en route to a, 7-4, United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory over Neumann Saturday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
In pregame ceremonies, the Mustangs honored seniors Annika Carlander, Kira Collins, Angelica Saluzzo, and Casey Storck.
- Just 1:14 into the contest, Barcless found the back of the net after redirecting a shot from the point by junior Breanna Crosson.
- Junior Nikki Kendrick gave the Mustangs (9-3-0, 7-1-0 UCHC) a two-goal lead, scoring just 1:34 later, getting a helper from Barcless.
- Stevenson had its first of nine power play opportunities at the 4:38 mark but did not record a shot on net.
- With seven seconds remaining in the second power play attempt, Aguirre made it, 3-0, in favor of the hosts at the 8:52 mark on assists from Barcless and sophomore KaliJo Zagula.
- Kendrick nearly scored on the Mustangs third power play attempt, firing a shot off the pipe just before the player advantage expired.
- Eight seconds after Stevenson killed off a penalty, Georgi Rowland got the Knights (4-4-1, 4-4-1 UCHC) on the board after a successful breakout from the defensive zone.
- Neumann tied the game at the 14:05 mark after a pair of goals just 31 seconds apart by Kyleigh Prance and Jeannie Padden.
- Padden then gave the Knights the lead with 2:46 before intermission with her second breakaway goal, scoring both one-on-one with Carlander.
- Both teams were whistled for a penalty just 32 seconds into the period to produce four-on-four play.
- After Barcless won an offensive zone face-off, Barcless tied the game at, 4-4, after Aguirre fed her the puck in front of the net. Junior Paige Sullivan picked up the secondary assist.
- At the 2:53 mark, first year Hannah Labbe scored the go-ahead goal with Aguirre dishing out the assist.
- Labbe found the back of the net again 4:34 later, this time getting helpers from both Barlcess and Aguirre.
- At the halfway mark of the period, Kendrick won an offensive zone face-off forward to the stick of senior Angelica Saluzzo before getting the puck back and scoring on a backhander.
- Stevenson outshot Neumann, 37-16, including, 14-4, in the third period.
- The Mustangs finished 1-for-9 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
- Carlander finished with 12 saves and became the fourth Mustang to record 500 career saves.
- The five points by Barcless ranks tied for fifth in program history, marking the eighth time someone has recorded at least five points.
- Barcless finished the weekend with eight points while Kendrick totaled five goals.
- It is the first multi-goal game for Labbe, who totaled four points on the weekend.
- Stevenson secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming UCHC tournament and will host a UCHC Quarterfinal on Thursday, April 1 at 5:30 p.m.
