Mustangs Score Season-High Eight Goals in Victory at Neumann

ASTON, Pa. - Stevenson women's ice hockey junior Nikki Kendrick netted her second career hat trick while first year Emily Brightbill scored her first career goal as the Mustangs scored eight unanswered goals en route to an, 8-1, United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory over Neumann Friday evening at IceWorks.

  • The Knights (3-4-1, 3-4-1 UCHC) found the back of the net first as Georgi Rowland scored her third goal against Stevenson this season at the 8:13 mark.
  • Just 1:30 later, Kendrick tied the game, scoring on her own rebound attempt.
  • The Mustangs (7-3-0, 6-1-0 UCHC) were whistled for the first penalty of the game at the 13:25 but junior Tea Ferrara scored a shorthanded to give the visitors the lead.
  • With 1:29 remaining in the period, Stevenson went back on the penalty kill with the Mustangs once again controlling the office with a pair of shots before the intermission.

  • On the second power play attempt for Stevenson, senior Casey Storck found the back of the net on assists from classmate Trinity Barcless and sophomore Karly Aguirre.
  • After killing off a penalty, the Mustangs scored an even-strength goal by sophomore KaliJo Zagula, getting helpers from Barcless and first year Hannah Labbe.
  • At the 16:00 mark, Kendrick netted her second goal of the game with senior Angelica Saluzzo dishing out an assist before Brightbill scored just 1:09 later.
  • Kendrick completed her hat trick with 1:51 remaining in the period, scoring on the power play. Ferrara and junior Paige Sullivan had the assists.

  • In the opening minutes, Kendrick nearly had a fourth goal but her shot hit off the pipe.
  • The Mustangs had four power play attempts in the period, with Labbe scoring on the player advantage with 25 seconds remaining in regulation.
  • Barcless and Zagula had the final assists.

  • Stevenson outshot Neumann, 56-8, including 30-6 in the third period.
  • The Mustangs finished 3-for-7 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
  • It is the 10th time Stevenson has netted at least eight goals in program history.
  • The win improves the Mustangs to 14-6-2 all-time in the series.
  • Kendrick's hat trick is the 18th in program history, including the second this season.
  • Brightbill is the 10th different Mustang to net a goal this season.
  • For Storck, it is her first goal since her sophomore season and fourth career goal.
