Box Score REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson men's ice hockey senior Carl Lyden recorded three points to lead 11 different point scorers in the Mustangs, 6-3, United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory over Chatham Saturday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex on senior night.
- The Mustangs (8-2-1, 5-1-1 UCHC) had to kill off a pair of penalties in the opening period.
- Sophomore Ryan Kenny made a pair of saves on the first penalty kill while junior Chad Watt had a shorthanded shot on the second.
- With 2:06 remaining and on a delayed penalty, sophomore Chris Lee netted his first goal of the season on assists from Lyden and first year Blake Colman.
- The Cougars (5-5-0, 5-3-0 UCHC) recorded the lone shot on the hosts power play opportunity.
- Stevenson came out firing three shots in the opening minute of the second period, including a shot by senior Matt Cappucci.
- At the 7:17 mark, the Mustangs went on the power play for the second time in the contest but did not record a shot on net.
- Chatham tied the game at, 1-1, with 5:28 remaining as Chad Bell scored in transition.
- The Mustangs went on the power play at the 15:18 mark but had it cut 30 seconds short after the host were whistled for a penalty.
- With 58.3 seconds remaining before intermission, the hosts went back on the man advantage with Colman firing a shot before the whistle.
- First year Mac Lowry gave the Mustangs the lead at the 2:59 mark on a helper from Lyden after a turnover behind the net.
- At the 6:14 mark, Lyden found the back of the net on the power play after getting a pass from first year Evan Beers in the neutral zone.
- Kenny picked up the secondary assist after playing the puck behind the net.
- Just 2:37 later, first year Eric Olson extended the Mustangs lead to, 4-1, on assists from classmate Matt Dougherty and Beers.
- Lowry netted his second goal of the game, this time on the power play at the 11:01 mark with the assists coming from Colman and junior Ryan Patrick.
- Junior Luke Benitez got on the scoresheet just 29 seconds later with Lee and senior Martino Picariello dishing out the helpers.
- The Cougars stopped the five-goal run with back-to-back goals just 1:28 apart.
- Stevenson outshot Chatham, 34-26, including 11-7 in the third period.
- The Mustangs finished 2-for-6 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
- With the win, Stevenson improves to 9-1-0 versus the Cougars after falling to Chatham in February.
