Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa.- The Stevenson women's basketball team fell short, Wednesday evening in a closely contested contest with Lebanon Valley. The Mustangs fell, 42-37.
Aysia Ferguson led the Mustangs with nine points, five rebounds, and two assists. Olivia Coleman and Kellie Johnson added eight points apiece.
- The Mustang's first quarter was their biggest as they recorded 15 points.
- Stevenson jumped two a 10-3 lead within the first three minutes after points from K. Johnson and Ferguson. Following K. Johnson's jumper, Ferguson got the steal and then turned that into a made layup.
- The two teams went almost three more minutes before another scored. Denia Campbell assisted K. Johnson for three to go up 13-3.
- Lebanon Valley went through almost the whole quarter to put more points on the board as they hit a layup with a minute left in the first quarter.
- The Dutchmen put down a three as they trailed, 15-8 at the end of the quarter.
- Coleman started off the second with a layup.
- At the 5:51 minute mark, Lebanon Valley crept closer to Stevenson as they sunk a three to cut the Mustangs lead to 17-13.
- At the 3:35 minute mark, the two teams started to trade points. Stevenson picked up a jumper and a layup while Lebanon Valley added a 3-pointer to trail by three.
- In the final minute of the quarter, the Dutchmen took over the lead at 22-21 after a jumper to close the quarter.
- Throughout the third, the teams went in a back and forth affair as it was a low-scoring quarter. After a K. Johnson picked up two at the 7:28 minute, the Mustangs led by one at 25-24.
- Following Coleman's jumper, Stevenson trailed 28-27 with a little more than five minutes.
- For the final five minutes, both teams struggled to find the basket with multiple missed shots.
- Lebanon Valley added two more in the final seconds of the quarter to take over the lead, 30-27.
- Lebanon Valley jumped out ahead, 39-27 in the fourth as they went on a 9-0 run to start out.
- At the 1:39 minute mark, Stevenson scored their first points of the quarter following a K. Johnson layup.
- In the final 1:30, the Mustangs put down 10 points but it wasn't enough as they couldn't get closer than five and ultimately fell, 42-37.
- The two teams were almost even in field goal percentage as Stevenson was at 32.7% while Lebanon Valley was at 33.3%.
- The Dutchmen just outrebounded the Mustangs, 34-29.
- This is the first game of the season in which a Mustang didn't score in double digits.
- Stevenson recorded 26 of their points in the paint and totaled nine fastbreak points.
- In total the lead changed 12 times with Stevenson falling, 2-5, 1-2 while Lebanon Valley advanced to 6-4, 2-1.
- Stevenson closes out MAC Commonwealth play for the semester this Saturday, December 11th. The Mustangs will host Eastern for their final home game of 2021 at 1 PM.
