Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Stevenson women's hockey team defeated Wilkes, 4-2 as the Mustangs scored two in the final period to secure their win.
Stevenson scored a goal in all three periods and secured their win in the final period with two goals, Friday evening. Karly Aguirre scored two goals, Nikki Kendrick scored on a power-play and Megan Swick scored her first career goal.
- The Mustangs got off to a quick start as they fired off seven shots in a row within the first three minutes.
- Wilkes struck first at the 9:53 minute mark, to take a 1-0 lead.
- Minutes later, Stevenson tied up the game after Ally Gibson assisted Aguirre for their first goal.
- Just over 40 seconds into the period, Aguirre took a shot on goal but it was saved by the goalie Addy Olson from Wilkes. Seconds later, Aguirre's shot that rebounded from Olson pads set up Kendrick for Stevenson's second goal.
- Stevenson had multiple opportunities throughout the rest of the period, the Mustangs closed out the period with three consecutive shots from Elizabeth Gaudreau but two were blocked while one went wide.
- Stevenson was quick to get started again as Kendrick and Gaudreau assisted Swick for the Mustang's third goal of the game. Stevenson extended their lead, 3-1.
- Five minutes later, Wilkes responded with another goal of their own.
- At the 16:02 minute mark, Gibson assisted Aguirre for the Mustang's final goal of the game.
- Stevenson moves to 4-5, 3-2 UCHC while Wilkes falls 1-4, 1-4 UCHC.
- Swick recorded her first career goal, Aguirre scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season while Kendrick also scored her first goal of the season.
- Olivia DeGuire totaled 16 shots in goal.
- Kendrick won 10 of her 15 faceoffs.
- The Mustangs totaled 43 shots while Wilkes just tallied 18.
- Stevenson went 1 of 2 in power play opportunities.
