Box Score CHESTER, Pa.- The Stevenson women's volleyball team moved to 7-1 in the MAC Commonwealth as they swept Widener, Thursday evening on the road. With the win over Widener, the Mustangs will be the number two seed in the MAC Commonwealth tournament.
- The Mustangs jumped out in front early as they lead, 5-2 to start the match. Kills from Darian Dildy and Piper Connors and a service ace from Kayla Vaeth put them out front of the Pride.
- The teams traded points for a bit then Stevenson picked up three points in a row to force a Widener timeout as they led, 11-7.
- Widener picked up five consecutive points to come within one of Stevenson at 14-13.
- Stevenson answered back with four points in a row following, kills from Dildy, Sarah Straub, Connors, and Mackenzie Blevins.
- The Pride added two more points before Stevenson sealed their set one win, 25-15.
- Widener started off set two with a 0-3 lead following three kills.
- Stevenson and Widener went back and forth until the Mustangs added three points in a row after, two kills from Blevins and a service ace from Connors to take an, 11-7 lead.
- The Mustangs kept up their momentum as they racked up five points in a row to double their lead, 18-9.
- The Pride got things going as they came within three, 23-20.
- Kills from Straub, Shannon Baily, and Sophia Eckerd secured the Mustangs, 25-21 win.
- Stevenson started off strong in set three as they took a 7-4 lead.
- The teams traded points and kept things close as they tied up the set 17-17.
- Two kills from Blevins gave Stevenson a 19-17 lead.
- Following a widener timeout, the Mustangs finished off the set with five of the next six points. A Connors service ace and a kill from Rileigh Kimball sandwiched two Widener attack errors.
- The Mustangs took the final set 25-18 as the Pride finished with a service error.
- Stevenson moves to 24-4, 7-1 while Widener moves to 19-9, 4-4.
- The Mustangs secure their win to lock in the number two seed in the MAC Commonwealth tournament. This will be the ninth consecutive season the Mustangs are in the tournament. Stevenson has won all eight of the MAC Commonwealth championship titles.
- The Mustangs win lucky number 13 in a row and remain undefeated in October.
- Blevins totaled 11 kills (.280) and added 20 assists and three service aces.
- Straub also totaled 11 kills (.333), and added two block assists.
- Stevenson will travel to Cabrini on Saturday to compete in a tri-match to close their regular season. The Mustangs will face Cabrini at 11 AM and Misericordia at 1 PM.
