Mustangs Keep Rolling as they Extend Win Streak to Nine

GLENSIDE, Pa.- The Stevenson women's volleyball team kept things rolling, Saturday as they defeated Stockton, 3-2, and Arcadia, 3-0. The Mustangs remain undefeated in October and move their win streak to nine.

  • The Mustangs and Stockton opened up the match trading points until Stockton began to pull away at 8-4 after an Ospreys kill. 
  • Stevenson tied it up at 8-8 as they took the next four points following three kills by Sarah Straub and a Stockton attack error. 
  • The two teams continued to go back and forth in a tight match as they led, 11-10 after a Mackenzie Blevins service ace. 
  • Stevenson picked things up a bit as they extended their lead to 19-13 after three consecutive points. 
  • Piper Connors served out three aces before Shannon Baily ended set one with a kill to win, 25-14.  
  • Set two saw the Mustangs start off with an 11-7 lead after Straub smacked down a kill. 
  • Stockton picked up a point on a Stevenson attack error to come within three at 9-12. 
  • The Mustangs again began to pull away at 17-13 to force a Stockton timeout. 
  • Stevenson and Stockton went back and forth at the end of the set, after a Mustang timeout Darian Dildy and Connors each smacked down a kill to tie the teams up at 24. 
  • The Mustangs ultimately won set two, 27-25. 
  • Stockton started off strong in set three. A kill by Taylor Jones kept the Mustangs within one at 4-5. 
  • The teams continued to trade points throughout the set, the Mustangs managed to come within two at 22-20 after a kill by Makala Thompson and a Stockton attack error. 
  • Stockton took the final three points of the set to win, 25-21. 
  • Set four the Ospreys came out on top early but the Mustangs tied it up at 14 after a service ace from Kayla Vaeth and a kill from Connors. 
  • A kill by Baily, then a Stockton attack error put the Mustangs ahead, 20-19. 
  • After a Stockton timeout, the Ospreys took three points in a row which led to them winning the set, 25-21. 
  • The final set saw the Mustangs come out swinging as they went up, 4-1 to start after three straight kills. 
  • Straub bookended a timeout with two kills of her own to extend Stevenson's lead, 11-3. 
  • Stevenson took the final three points of the match after a Stockton service error, attack error, and bad set. The Mustangs won, 15-5. 

  • Arcadia started off leading set one, 9-4 after a kill by Sophia Eckerd
  • Stevenson then took control and tied it up at 15 after a kill from Baily. 
  • The Mustangs continued to rack up points as they led 21-20 after Connors and Haley Hoover both put down kills. 
  • The Mustangs took the final two points of the set to win, 25-23. A kill from Hoover and a Knight attack error put them on top. 
  • The two teams started off set two, trading points until Arcadia picked up four in a row following a kill to take a 9-8 lead. 
  • The Mustangs recorded the following four consecutive points after a kill by Straub and two kills by Dildy. Stevenson led, 12-9. 
  • Stevenson continued to jump ahead of the Knights after two Arcadia attack errors to give the Mustangs a 15-11 advantage. 
  • Stevenson extended their lead to 19-12 as they got another three points in a row after a kill by Eckerd and Baily.
  • Towards the end of the set the teams traded points a little bit but Arcadia couldn't keep up as the Mustangs took set two, 25-19.
  • Set three started off in an even contest as both teams went back and forth taking points.
  • At the end of the set, the Mustangs began to pull away to lead, 17-13. Stevenson recorded four points in a row, after a kill by Hoover and Baily and blocks by Hoover and Straub.
  • The Knights snuck in a few more points but Stevenson racked up five consecutive points to lead, 23-15 following a kill from Baily.
  •  Stevenson closed out the match taking the final two points to win, 25-16. Eckerd smacked down the final two kills for the Mustangs. 

  • Stevenson moves to 20-4 overall and extends their win streak to nine. The team also remains undefeated in the month of October. 
  • On the day Baily racked up 25 kills while hitting .310. 
  • Straub (.326) and Dildy (.444) each totaled 18 kills between the two matches. 
  • Blevins tallied six kills, 28 assists, and three service aces. 
  • Vaeth added 42 digs and two service aces. 

  • The Mustangs will travel to McDaniel this coming Tuesday, October 19th at 7 PM.
