Mustangs Fall to Top-Seeded Cabrini in ECAC Semifinals

RADNOR, Pa. - Host Cabrini pulled away in a 70-60 ECAC semfinal women's basketball victory over Stevenson on Saturday afternoon at Nerney Fieldhouse. The Mustangs had four players score in doubles while Junior Olivia Coleman posted her second concecutive double-double with 12 points on 11 rebounds. Senior Hannah Crist was honored to the All-Tournament team on Sunday afternoon.

  • Just 27 seconds into the game, Kate Lannon hit a three for Cabrini (21-8) to take the first lead of the game.
  • Coleman responded with a jumper 24 seconds later to put Stevenson (15-14) on the board, 3-2.
  • Cabrini led a 16-10 run capped by a Crist three at the 3:10 mark to bring the Mustangs within seven, 19-12.
  • With 49 seconds left in the first quarter, Ashley Tutzauer hit a three to extend the Cavaliers lead by 11, 24-13.

  • A three by Crist at the 9:34 mark brought Stevenson back within eight.
  • Cabrini held a 9-3 run over the Mustangs in the next three minutes when Junior Denia Campbell converted a layup to make it a, 33-19, game.
  • A Coleman layup with just under 32 seconds until the break pulled the guests within 17, 39-22.

  • The hosts left the Mustangs scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the second half until two Crist free throws at the 7:39 mark, 49-27.
  • A Campbell three made it a 51-30 game when she the Junior responded to a Kate Lannon jumper at the 6:41 mark.
  • The next seven minutes, Cabrini held a 16-12 run over the Mustangs capped by two Lexi Edwards free throws to send the Cavaliers leading, 67-39, into the final quarter.

  •  Stevenson cut the lead to 26 when Junior Brandi Hall put up a layup just 26 seconds into the final quarter.
  • Cabrini ran 6-5 over Stevenson for the next three minutes, at the 6:42 mark, Sophomore Kellie Johnson hit a three to make it a, 73-46, game.
  • At the 5:48 mark, Hall put up a layup for Stevenson and seven seconds later a steal and layup from Johnson brought the game to, 73-50.
  • Two Coleman free throws at the 1:54 mark capped Stevensons' 7-3 run.
  • Junior Alexa Sanmartin closed out the game with a three to make it a, 77-60 contest.

  • Cabrini shot 44.6% from the floor and knocked down 11 of its 25 three-point attempts.
  • Stevenson shot 37.9% overall and was 6-15 behind the arc. 
  • The Cavaliers narrowkly outrebounded the Mustangs, 39-38.
  • Crist lead with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
  • Campbell contributed 11 points while Hall had 10.
  • Coleman tallied six blocks on the afternoon.
  • Johnson collected seven points and two rebounds.
