Box Score REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey sophomore Nikki Kendrick netted a goal for the fourth straight game but a third period power play goal lifted Manhattanville over the Mustangs, 3-2, in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest Friday afternoon at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
- The Mustangs (7-8-4, 5-5-2 UCHC) blocked a pair of shots to begin the game before sophomore Elizabeth Gaudreau recorded the first shot on net.
- A hooking penalty gave the Valiants (11-7-3, 9-2-1 UCHC) the first power play opportunity of the game as the visitors took a, 1-0, lead on the third shot.
- Zoey Pellowitz blasted a shot from just inside the blue line on assists from Amanda Sabia and Tianna Lopes at the 7:52 mark.
- Stevenson earned its first power play opportunity at the 15:19 mark but Manhattanville had the lone shot on the penalty kill.
- Freshman Ashlyn Bray tied the game just 2:51 into the second period on the first shot on the frame.
- A flip out of the defensive zone by sophomore Ally Gibson found the stick of Kendrick in the netural zone before Kendrick passed the puck across the face of the goal to Bray.
- Just 36 seconds later, Taylor Ham carried the puck up the left side of the ice before centering it to Brayden James who reclaimed the lead for the Valiants.
- With 8:19 remaining in the period, Kendrick tied the game at, 2-2, on an unassisted goal. Kendrick had her initial shot blocked before sending the rebound past the stick side of Lena Flores.
- The Mustangs had a five-on-three power play for 25 seconds but Ali Howard had a shorthanded shot that was stopped by senior Annie Smyth-Hammond.
- Manhattanville went on the power play with 14.7 seconds left in the period that carried into the third.
- Sophomore Breanna Crosson recorded a blocked shot to help finish the penalty kill.
- The Valiants went back onto the power play at the 4:57 mark and took the lead after Ham forced a turnover in the neutral zone before Sabia scored on Ham's rebound.
- At the 6:28 mark, the Mustangs had a power play opportunity but Smyth-Hammond made two saves before the player advantage was cut short with 40 seconds remaining.
- Stevenson's last shot on net came with just under five minutes remaining with Smyth-Hammond making three saves to close the game.
- Manhattanville outshot Stevenson, 31-19, including 18-5 in the third period.
- The Mustangs finished 0-for-5 on the power play while the Valiants went 2-for-4.
- Kendrick recorded a goal and an assist and has totaled eight points over her last four games.
- Smyth-Hammond recorded 28 saves, including 17 in the third period.
- Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, February 8 when the Mustangs host a UCHC contest versus Neumann on Senior Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
