Messiah Downs Mustangs in MAC Commonwealth Semifinal, Crist Breaks Three-Pointer Record

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - The Stevenson University women's basketball team traveled top-seeded Messiah on Wednesday night at Jordan Court for the MAC Commonwealth semifinal playoffs. The Mustangs fell to the Falcons 78-44. Junior Olivia Coleman posted a double-double for the Mustangs with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Hannah Crist breaks the program record for three-pointers, with 175 total. The previous record was 174 held by Stephanie Martinez with 174.

  • At the 9:25 mark, Leah Springer put in a basket for Messiah (22-4, 15-1 MAC Commonwealth) to start the game, 2-0.
  • Following four consecutive Falcons points, an Coleman jumper put Stevenson (14-13, 8-8 MAC Commonwealth) on the board at the 5:16 mark.
  • In a 12-2 run in the remaining five minutes of the half, a Springer layup ended the quarter, 18-4.

  • Eleana Eckley and Springer each put up a basket at the 8:32 and 7:59 marks, respectively.
  • A Savana Herndon layup at the 5:55 mark got Stevenson within 20 of Messiah, 26-6.
  • The Falcons scored the next nine points until a Coleman jumper at the 2:45 mark made it a 35-8 game.
  • One minute later, a Denia Campbell basket got Stevenson within 15 of the Falcons, 35-10.
  • With 45 seconds remaining in the first half, Laila Abdul-Rahman converted a layup to shrink the lead back to 23, 35-12.
