Box Score NAZARETH, N.Y. - Stevenson women's ice hockey senior Annie Smyth-Hammond finished with a career-high 48 saves to eclipse the 1,000 career saves mark as the Mustangs erased a two-goal deficit to post a 5-5 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) overtime tie at Nazareth Saturday afternoon at Bill Gray's Iceplex.
- The Mustangs (7-7-3, 5-4-1 UCHC) defense blocked the four of the first five Nazareth shots, with the fifth going wide.
- Smyth-Hammond stopped four consecutive shots before the Golden Flyers (13-2-3, 7-1-2 UCHC) were whistled for the first penalty of the game.
- Adrianna Brehm stopped a pair of shots on the penalty kill but sophomore Tea Ferrara sent a rebound off a shot from classmate Nikki Kendrick into the back of the net for the early lead.
- Nazareth recorded the next 13 shots on net, all stopped by Smyth-Hammond, before sophomore Elizabeth Gaudreau put a shot on net at the end of the period.
- Stevenson recorded the first shot of the period before the Golden Flyers recorded the next four, including back-to-back goals just 35 seconds apart.
- Nikolle Van Stralen tied the game for the hosts at the 1:16 mark before Madison Schroeder gave Nazareth the lead at the 1:51 mark.
- Just 1:42 later, Kendrick scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 2-2.
- Nazareth's point leader, Abbey Luth, reclaimed a one-goal lead for the hosts at the 6:22 mark before Makenna Wiljanen pushed the lead to two less than three minutes later.
- At the 13:53 mark, the Mustangs went on their second power play but Brehm stopped both shots on net while Smyth-Hammond made a shorthanded save.
- Just 1:55 into the period, senoir Allyson Barlow got Stevenson back within one as the senior scored on an assist from classmate Jordan Pirrello.
- Barlow netted her second goal of the at the 5:48 as Gaudreau found Barlow who sent a bouncing wrister over the glove of Brehm to tie the game at 4-4.
- The Mustangs went on the penalty kill for the first time in the contest at the 6:20 mark before the Golden Flyers took a penalty at the 7:58 mark.
- Stevenson had seven seconds on the power play before being whistled for its second penalty to go back to four-on-four play.
- Nazareth took a 5-4 lead as Luth netted her second goal of the game after batting in the rebound.
- The Golden Flyers had 29 seconds of a power play but did not record a shot during that time.
- With 1:14 remaining, Nazareth was whistled for a penalty as the Mustangs had a six-on-four opportunity with Smyth-Hammond on the bench in favor of an extra attacker.
- Kendrick tied the game at 5-5 with 55 seconds remaining in regulation, scoring on her own rebound attempt.
- Smyth-Hammond stopped the first shot of the overtime period before the Mustangs recorded the next four shots, including a shot by Barlow right in front of the net that was saved by Brehm.
