League-Leading Widener Downs Mustangs

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener, the MAC Commonwealth leader, led by 19 at halftime and never looked back en route to a 92-71 men's basketball victory over Stevenson Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center.

  • Widener (17-3, 10-1 MAC Commonwealth) opened up a 10-3 lead two minutes into the game.
  • Stevenson (5-15, 2-9) got a Evan Joseph three and back-to-back baskets by Jaylin Johnson to pull within 11-10 at the 17:04 mark.
  • The Pride scored the next nine points to go up 20-10.
  • A Damein Coleman basket, followed by a Cam Harris three, cut Widener's lead to six, 23-17, with 12:02 on the clock.
  • Stevenson trailed 34-24 with just under seven minutes left on a basket by Isaiah Oshinnaiye before Widener scored the next 13 points to extend its lead to 47-24.
  • The hosts led 49-30 at intermission.

  • Mark Terrell scored the first basket of the second half to make it 49-32.
  • Terrell had a conventional three-point play at the 18:36 mark to make it a 52-35 game.
  • Widener reeled off 17 straight points to build a 32-point cushion, 67-35, with 13:36 on the clock.
  • Stevenson closed the game on a 15-2 run, with a basket by Johnson accounting for the final.
