Barcless Picks Up Three Points in Victory Over Wilkes

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey junior Trinity Barcless recorded three points as the Mustangs posted a 3-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory Friday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

  • The Mustangs (6-7-2, 4-4-0 UCHC) got on the board just 3:09 into the contest as freshman Karly Aguirre redirected a low shot by senior Carly McGee from the point.
  • Barcless picked up the secondary assist after playing the puck up to McGee.
  • Stevenson outshot Wilkes, 16-3, in the period, including the final six shots on net.
  • The Colonels (2-12-0, 1-7-1 UCHC) finished the period with four blocked shots.

  • The hosts picked up right where it left off at the end of the second period, recording five of the first six shots.
  • Freshman KaliJo Zagula doubled the Mustangs lead with a goal at the 4:44 mark of the period.
  • Barcless won the face-off back to sophomore Paige Sullivan, before a shot by Barcless was blocked back out top to Zagula who fired it in from above the face-off circle.
  • Just past the midway point of the period, Barcless found the back of the net and scoring on a rebound attempt on the right post.
  • Aguirre won the puck on the boards before sending it back to senior Allyson Barlow who fired a shot from the point with Barcless there to finish.
  • At the 11:45 mark, the Mustangs were whistled for the first penalty of the game but the Colonels were sent to the box just 36 second later.

  • The Mustangs had a power play attempt early in the third period but did not record a shot during the two-minute player advantage.
  • At the 7:04 mark, Wilkes got on the board as Erica Sheaffer sent a wrister past senior Annie Smyth-Hammond.

  • Stevenson outshot Wilkes, 42-13, including 32-9 in the first two periods.
  • The Mustangs finished 0-for-2 on the power play while killing off their lone penalty.
  • It is Barcless' third multi-point game this season and second in the last four games.
  • Aguirre has netted three of her four goals at home this season.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, January 25 when the Mustangs host a UCHC and MAC contest versus King's (Pa.) beginning at 7:00 p.m.
