Four in Double Figures Gives Stevenson Fourth Straight Against Lebanon Valley

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University women's basketball collected a MAC Commonwealth win on Saturday afternoon againsat Lebanon Valley at Owings Mills Gymnasium by a 69-57 score. Junior Brandi Hall matched her career-high of 18 points against the Dutchmen as she paced four Mustangs in double figures.

  • The Dutchmen (7-9, 2-5 MAC Commonwealth) started the game off with two layups from Jaime Youngkin and Emily Mealey at the 8:26 and 7:54 marks, respectively.
  • At the 5:10 mark, a Kellie Johnson three ties the game for the Mustangs (7-8, 3-4 MAC Commonwealth), 8-8.
  • Johnson gave the Mustangs their first lead with a three at the 3:47 mark to make the score 11-10.
  • A basket by Hannah Crist with four seconds left gave Stevenson a 20-18 lead after 10 minutes. 

  • Johnson and Hall hit back-to-back threes to open the second to give the Mustangs a 26-20 lead.
  • A Morgan Pennick basket just over a minute in extended the hosts' lead to eight, 28-20.
  • LVC chipped away and a basket by Mealey 3:33 before halftime shrunk the Mustang lead to five, 34-29.
  • With 33 seconds left until the break, Hall hit a three to cap a 7-4 spurt and give Stevenson an eight-point lead, 41-33, at intermission.

  • Two Crist layups at the 9:36 and 9:21 marks put Mustangs up by 12, 45-33.
  • Amber Kintzer and Mealey each posted a layup for the Dutchmen at the 7:05 and 6:13 marks, respectively to pull Lebanon Valley within nine, 46-37.
  • Crist hit a three with 5:54 left to make the score 49-37.
  • A three-pointer by Brynne Deluzio gave Stevenson a 12-point lead at the 2:06 mark, 56-44, after the guests had cut the lead to nine twice.
  • Off a steal, Deluzio posted a layup for Stevenson with 34 seconds left in the quarter that made it 60-46, and the Mustangs led 61-46 through three.

  • To start the final quarter, Morgan Bamberger posted a three for the Dutchmen to cut the lead to 12, 61-49.
  • A Laila Abdul-Rahman layup at the 4:06 mark gave Stevenson a 13-point lead, 64-51.
  • Bamberger posted a three for Lebanon Valley at the 2:48 mark to pull it within nine, 64-55.
  • Kirstin Huggins made a layup to make it 66-55, and the Mustangs made three free throws the rest of the way to seal the win.

  • Stevenson shot 43.5% overall while Lebanon Valley shot 46.0%.
  • The Dutchmen went 9-10 at the free throw line, while Stevenson was 6-19.
  • Stevenson outrebounded the Dutchemen 34-33.
  • Stevenson forced 26 Lebanon Valley turnovers and had 14 steals.
  • The Mustangs went 9-22 behind the arc, while Lebanon Valley shot 18.2% from long range (2-11).
  • Hall tallied 18 points and handed out four assists.
  • Crist scored 14 points, pulling her within 53 of 1,000 for her career. 
  • Freshman Deluzio had a career-best 13 points on 5-7 shooting, including a pair of threes.

  • Stevenson will host Salisbury on Monday, January 20 at Owings Mills Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. non-conference match-up.
