Mustangs' Late Surge Withstood by LVC

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University men's basketball team trimmed a 21-point second-half deficit to five with 2:45 remaining, but visiting Lebanon Valley held on for a 77-66 MAC Commonwealth victory at Owings Mills Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

  • Lebanon Valley (7-9, 2-5 MAC Commonwealth) scored the game's first six points and led 9-3 3:29 in.
  • Stevenson (5-11, 2-5 MAC Commonwealth) scored 12 straight points to build a 15-9 lead with 10:54 left following a Cornelius Bobo layup.
  • The Mustangs held the Dutchmen scoreless for nearly six minutes until a basket with 10:35 on the clock.
  • LVC took a 19-17 lead on a pair of Mason Green free throws at the 7:51 mark.
  • Cam Harris connected on a three to put Stevenson back in front, 20-19, but the lead was short-lived, as the guests went back in front on a Justin Baker triple on their next possession with 6:03 left before halftime.
  • Stevenson scored the next five points and went up 25-21 on a Drew Miller basket with 4:32 left.

  • Lebanon Valley shot exactly 50% in both halves, going 12-24 in the first frame and 13-26 over the final 20 minutes.
  • Stevenson shot 41% for the game and was 11-31 behind the arc, while LVC made seven of its 16 three-point attempts.
  • The Dutchmen took twice as many trips to the free throw line, going 20-26, while Stevenson was 5-13.
  • The Mustangs held a 36-33 rebound advantage.
  • Hughes led the Mustangs in scoring for the sixth time this season with 18 points, going 6-13 behind the arc.
