Box Score HERSHEY, Pa. - The Stevenson men's ice hockey team had six different goal scorers, including two goals by sophomore Ryan Patrick, as the Mustangs posted a, 7-3, United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory over Lebanon Valley Friday evening at Hersheypark Arena.
- Just 1:13 into the contest, the Mustangs (11-3-0, 8-1-0 UCHC) were whistled for a penalty but killed it off behind two saves from freshman Ryan Kenny.
- At the 7:06 mark, Stevenson went back into the penalty box but scored a shorthanded goal just 46 seconds into the period as Patrick found the back of the net off an assist from senior Chris Javens.
- The Dutchmen (3-11-1, 1-6-1 UCHC) tied the game at 1-1 with 4:36 remaining in the opening period.
- Lebanon Valley took its first penalty of the game at the 8:08 mark of the frame but Aidan Richardson stopped all three shots, including a pair by freshman Austin Master.
- On the 16th shot on net in the period, senior Nick Gray gave the visitors the lead with an even strength goal. Patrick and Master picked up the assists.
- With 23 seconds remaining, the Mustangs were once again called for a penalty, giving the hosts 1:37 to work with to start the third period.
- Just 42 seconds into the period and with 55 seconds remaining on the power play, Danny Galvez tied the game for the Dutchmen.
- Twenty-six seconds after tying the game, Stevenson had to serve another two minutes, allowing Lebanon Valley to take a 3-2 lead with 23 seconds remaining in the power play.
- At the 6:15 mark, the Dutchmen was whistled for too many men on the ice, which led to a goal by junior Carl Lyden with seniors Christian Ripley and Dominic Brenza dishing out the assists.
- Patrick netted his second goal of the game just 2:26 later, to give the Mustangs a 4-3 lead.
- Just 29 seconds after taking the lead, Stevenson had a five-minute power play after Lebanon Valley was called for a major for boarding.
- The Mustangs netted two power play goals on the man advantage as Master and senior Bruce Stachitas scored 39 seconds apart.
- Eight seconds after the penalty expired, junior Oleg Potemkin scored to make it 7-3 in favor of the vicitors. Kenny picked up the secondary assist.
- Stevenson outshot Lebanon Valley, 35-24, including 19-7 in the second period.
- The Mustangs were 3-for-6 on the power play while the Dutchmen were 2-for-5.
- Stevenson tied the program record with 11 wins while head coach Dominick Dawes is just one win shy of 150 for his career.
- The assist by Kenny was the third goalie assist in program history while the rookie finished with 21 saves for his eighth win of the year.
- Patrick's shorthanded goal was the seventh this season for the Mustangs, which is tied for the most in Division III.
- It was the first goal of the season for Stachitas while Gray scored his team leading 11th of the season.
- Murray finished with two assists, his sixth career multi-assist game, while Patrick recorded his first multi-goal game.
- With the win and a loss by Wilkes, Stevenson is in solo first place in the UCHC standings with 24 points.
- Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, January 18 when the Mustangs travel to Elmira for a UCHC contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
- The Mustangs are back home on Friday, January 24 when the team begins a two-game non-conference series versus Fredonia. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
