Mustangs Post 3-0 Win Over Dickinson In Home Debut

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Katie Leftridge racked up 16 kills as the Stevenson University women's volleyball team remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Dickinson College to open a quad match Friday night.  Set scores were 25-10, 25-18, 25-22.

  • Stevenson (7-0) jumped out to an 8-3 lead that forced Dickinson (4-3) to call an early timeout.
  • After the Red Devils pulled within 10-6, the Mustangs scored 11 of the next 12 points and a kill by Mackenzie Blevins put the Mustangs on top 21-7.
  • A Dickinson attack error, followed by a Shannon Baily kill, closed out the first set.

  • A block by Blevins and Sarah Straub capped an early 4-0 spurt and put Stevenson up 6-2.
  • Dickinson pulled within one, 11-10, and cut the lead to one five times, the latest at 17-16.
  • Four straight points capped by a Victoria Prokic kill extended the Mustang advantage to 21-16.
  • Stevenson scored the final four points of the set and a block by Blevins and Prokic put the hosts up 2-0.

  • Stevenson again jumped out to a 6-2 lead following a service ace by Emily Pellini.
  • The Red Devils used a 5-1 run to knot the set 10-10.
  • A 5-1 spurt gave the guests an 18-17 lead.
  • The Mustangs reclaimed the lead, 20-19, on a Prokic kill.
  • After Dickinson forged another tie, a Prokic kill followed by a Piper Connors service ace put the Mustangs up for good.
  • A block by Leftridge and Haley Hoover closed out the match.

  • Stevenson hit .207 for the match, including .357 in the first set, while the Red Devils hit .057.
  • Leftridge hit .306 on the night and also had 11 digs and four blocks.
  • Prokic finished with six kills and five blocks.
  • Pellini and Caroline Dangel each finished with 11 digs, with Dangel handing out 17 assists.
  • Julie Nightwine added 13 assists.
  • Stevenson's eight blocks were its second most of the season.

  • Stevenson is in action twice Saturday, hosting Gallaudet at 10 am and Salisbury at 4 pm.
