Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Visiting Arcadia, the defending MAC Commonwealth champions, shot nearly 70% in the second half, but Stevenson was able to hold off the Knights by dropping in 13 three-pointers for a 91-83 MAC Commonwealth men's basketball victory Saturday afternoon at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
- Stevenson (5-5, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) outscored Arcadia (5-5, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) 16-5 over the first six-plus minutes, with a three by Kyle Wooldridge making it 16-5 at the 13:18 mark.
- Trailing 18-10, an 8-2 Knight run pulled them within two, 20-18, on a Justin Money three with 8:51 left.
- A three-point play bt Jalen Watkins pulled the guests within one, 22-21, with 8:04 to go in the first frame.
- The Knights took their first lead since the game's opening moments on a Jacob Walsh three-point play with 5:53 to go, going up 28-27.
- The lead was short-lived, as Isaiah Oshinnaiye hit a three 12 seconds later to put the Mustangs back on top.
- The three sparked an 12-0 run that made it 39-28 3:05 before intermission on a Norman Hughes three.
- Stevenson pushed the lead to 13, 43-30, as Mark Terrell made 1-of-2 at the line as he was fouled with 0.1 on the clock.
- Arcadia used an 8-0 spurt to pull within four, 50-46, on a Steve Pendleton basket at the 15:12 mark.
- A basket by Wooldridge pushed the lead back to seven, 63-56, with 10:52 on the clock.
- The Knights used an 8-2 run to pull within one, 65-64, with just over eight minutes left.
- Back-to-back threes by Hughes made it 71-64 with 7:30 to play.
- Arcadia again whittled the lead to one, 75-74, with 3:48 left.
- Hughes again responded with a three to make it 78-74 with 3:31 remaining.
- Da'Kquan Davis halved the lead with 3:20 to go, but another Hughes triple pushed the lead back to five with 2:58 to go.
- Stevenson led 83-79 following a Pendleton basket with 1:12 left, but sealed the win by going 8-8 at the free throw line, with Hughes sinking all four of his attempts.
- Stevenson shot 55.2% (16-29) over the final 20 minutes and 50.8% for the game and went 13-21 (61.9%) from three-point land. It marked its highest three-point percentage since going 10-15 against Allegheny on December 30, 2014.
- Arcadia finished 23-33 (69.7%) from the floor in the second half, including 21-26 on two-point attempts, and shot 55% for the game. The Knights were just 5-19 behind the arc.
- The Mustangs were 12-21 at the free throw line, while Arcadia was 12-15.
- The Knights held a 34-31 rebound advantage, but the Mustangs outrebounded the guests 13-10 on the offensive glass, leading to a 15-9 edge in second chance points.
- Stevenson committed a season-low 10 turnovers, while forcing 16 Arcadia giveaways.
- Hughes tallied 18 of his 29 points in the second half, going 7-11 from three and 9-16 from the floor for the game. He also grabbed four rebounds.
