Five Players Score in Mustangs 5-0 Victory Over Lebanon Valley

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - The Stevenson women's ice hockey team had five different players find the back of the net while senior Allyson Barlow dished out two assists and classmate Annie Smyth-Hammond posted a shuout as the Mustangs downed Lebanon Valley, 5-0, in both United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play Friday afternoon at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

  • The Dutchmen (0-3-1, 0-1-1 UCHC) were whistled just 21 seconds into the contest for a hooking penalty.
  • Stevenson fired five shots on the player advantage but NCAA Division III all-time saves leader Jill Moffatt stopped all five shots.
  • The Mustangs (2-2-1, 1-2-0 UCHC) got on the board at the 7:20 mark as sophomore Nikki Kendrick collecting her rebound and scored after wrapping around the net. Barlow and sophomore Ally Gibson picked up the assists.
  • Lebanon Valley had four of the next six shots on net but Smyth-Hammond turned all four aside.

  • The hosts were whistled for its first penalty at the 6:08 mark but Smyth-Hammond stopped the Dutchmen's lone shot on the penalty kill.
  • The Mustangs went on their second power play midway through the second period and put five shots on net before the power play was cut short with 40 seconds remaining.
  • With 35.4 seconds remaining in the period, freshman Ashlyn Bray carried the puck up through the neutral zone and sent a wrister into the top right corner to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.

  • Just 36 seconds into the period, Gibson found the back of the net after sophomore Tea Ferrara hit the puck up ahead off the boards to Gibson for a breakaway. Kendrick was credited with the secondary assist.
  • The two teams were whistled for penalties just 29 seconds apart before junior Trinity Barcless netted a four-on-four goal after senior Jordan Pirrello forced a turnover in the offensive zone.
  • Just 2:10 later and with 44.6 second remaining in regulation, sophomore Elizabeth Gaudreau scored on an assist from Pirrello.

  • Stevenson outshot Lebanon Valley, 43-19, including 17-5 in the first period.
  • The Mustangs won 37 of the 70 face-offs, with Ferrara winning a team-high 14. Ferrara also had five blocked shots.
  • It is the fourth goal for Barcless versus Lebanon Valley in five games while Kendrick netted her third goal and second assist in the series.
  • The Mustangs are 6-0-0 when Barcless finds the back of the net.
  • With the win, the Mustangs improve to 7-0 all-time versus the Dutchmen, having outscored them 35-2.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, November 16 when the Mustangs host a UCHC contest versus Chatham beginning at 3:00 p.m.
