Alvernia Edges Mustangs on Senior Night

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson field hockey team jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first quarter, but visiting Alvernia tied the game later in the period and scored the go-ahead goal in the third en route to a 2-1 MAC Commonwealth win at Mustang Stadium Saturday evening.

  • Jean Hart had the first shot of the game for Stevenson (6-12, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) off a penalty corner two minutes in, but it went wide.
  • Alvernia (10-8, 3-3 MAC Commonwealth) generated six penalty corners in a four-minute span but came up empty.
  • The Golden Wolves were awarded a penalty stroke just over eight minutes in, but it went wide left.
  • Emma Adams recorded her sixth goal of the season on a breakaway at the 8:40 mark, with Kaitlin Karns assisting.
  • Just 1:46 later, Alvernia tied the game on a goal by Morgan Mondschein, her 11th of the campaign.
