Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Stevenson University women's volleyball team shook off a first-set setback to post its 20th victory of the season, besting Catholic University 3-1 at Franny Murray Court Thursday night. Set scores were 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-16.
- Catholic (14-11) scored four straight points to open up a 12-7 lead.
- Back-to-back kills by Victoria Prokic and Simone Gest pulled Stevenson (20-0) within three, before the Cardinals scored the next three points to go up 15-9.
- After a Catholic service error, the Cardinals scored the next four points to extend the lead to 19-10.
- Trailing 24-16, the Mustangs scored four straight points capped by a Katie Leftridge kill, but a Patricia Martinez kill for the hosts ended the set.
- The second set featured 14 ties.
- With the set tied 22-22, a Mackenzie Blevins kill, followed by a Cardinal setting error, gave the Mustangs a lead and serving for set point.
- Catholic registered a kill on the next point to pull within 24-23, but a Haley Hoover kill closed it out and tied the match 1-1.
- Stevenson broke a 9-9 tie with four straight points to build a 13-9 lead on a Caroline Dangel service ace.
- The Mustangs extended the lead to 16-10 on back-to-back kills by Dangel and Leftridge.
