Mustangs Sweep Lebanon Valley On The Road

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Senior Moriah Savage and junior Katie Leftridge each totaled 11 kills as the Stevenson University women's volleyball team swept Lebanon Valley College 3-0 in a MAC Commonwealth match Wednesday night at Sorrentino Gymnasium.  Set scores were 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.

  • Lebanon Valley (4-6, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) led the first set 8-4 before five straight points capped by a Leftridge kill put the Mustangs up 9-8.
  • After the Dutchmen scored the next two points to reclaim the lead, Stevenson (7-6, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) reeled off eight points in a row to go up 17-10.
  • Senior Chelsea Ireland had four service aces during the run.
  • A Savage kill followed by an LVC attack error closed out the set.
  • Stevenson finished with seven service aces in the first set.
  • The Dutchmen hit .318 with 11 kills in the frame, while the Mustangs hit .316 with nine kills.

  • Stevenson never trailed and went up 10-4 on a Leftridge kill.
  • Lebanon Valley cut the lead to 11-8 before three straight points on Dutchmen errors doubled Stevenson's advantage.
  • A Savage kill followed by a Leftridge service ace closed out the frame.
  • The visitors hit .250 in the frame while LVC hit .074 as a team.

  • Stevenson held a 20-15 lead before the Dutchmen chipped away, pulling within 24-23 on a Stevenson service error.
  • Leftridge closed out the match with her 11th kill of the night.
  • LVC had the first two points of the set before the Mustangs scored the next five and never trailed again.
  • The Mustangs held Lebanon Valley to .071 hitting while they hit .265 as a team.

  • Leftridge hit .476 with just one error on 21 attempts, while Savage hit .381 as she had three errors on 21 swings.  Each finished with four digs while Savage had a pair of blocks.
  • Junior Victoria Prokic chipped in with five kills and a pair of blocks.
  • Ireland finished with four aces and three blocks.
  • Sarah Riggin registered seven digs.
  • Junior Caroline Dangel handed out 15 assists, while classmate Julie Nightwine had 12.
  • Stevenson hit .272 on the night, with the Dutchmen hitting .143.
  • The Mustangs won their 51st consecutive MAC Commonwealth regular season contest.

  • Stevenson returns home on Saturday to host a tri-match.  The Mustangs battle Lycoming in a MAC Commonwealth match at 1 pm, before taking on Washington College at 5 at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
