Box Score REISTERSTOWN, Md. - For the second time this season, the Stevenson men's ice hockey team was held off the scoresheet as the Mustangs dropped a, 1-0, United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest versus Lebanon Valley Friday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
- The Mustangs (5-6-0, 3-5-0 UCHC) recorded the first 12 shots of the contest, including two shots on the power play.
- The visiting Dutchmen (4-3-2, 3-2-2 UCHC) registered their first shot of the contest at 12:22 when Brett Johnson put two shots on freshman Riley McVeigh in close.
- Lebanon Valley went on the power play with 4:16 remaining in the opening period but only managed one shot on net.
- Just 37 seconds after the Mustangs penalty ended, the Dutchmen went into the box and had a five-on-three for 24 seconds.
- Nick Sorgio made three saves on the penalty kill while McVeigh had to stop two shorthanded shots from Lebanon Valley.
- With 5:24 remaining in the period, the Mustangs were called for a five-minute major but the Dutchmen recorded just four shots, all stopped by McVeigh.
- Stevenson managed two shorthanded shots during the major penalty.
- In the opening few minutes of the period, freshman Luke Benitez fired a shot off the pipe that bounced out.
- The Mustangs were called for a second major penalty and this time the Dutchmen converted with Travis Acker netting a goal.
- McVeigh made four saves over the remainder of the penalty kill while junior Austin Swingle nearly scored shorthanded.
- With 1:30 remaining in regulation, Stevenson pulled McVeigh in favor of an extra skater but managed just one shot on net.
- Stevenson outshot Lebanon Valley, 34-22 while the Dutchmen won 35 of the 62 face-offs.
- The Mustangs went 0-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
- It is the first win for the Dutchmen in the six-game series.
- In the two-plus year history, 22 of the Mustangs 61 all-time games have been decided by one goal. The team is 14-8 in those games.
- Stevenson concludes 2018 play on Saturday, December 8 when the Mustangs host a UCHC contest versus Elmira beginning at 3:00 p.m.
