Kendrick Nets Two in Mustangs Loss Versus Unbeaten Nazareth

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey freshman Nikki Kendrick netted two goals to extend her point streak to six games as the Mustangs dropped an United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest versus unbeaten Nazareth, 7-3, Saturday afternoon at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

  • The Golden Flyers (8-0-0, 4-0-0 UCHC) got on the scoreboard just 1:50 into the game as Mikaila Rubin converted on the second shot of the game.
  • Stevenson was whistled for the game's first penalty but senior Caitie Darosa made a pair of saves while junior Carly McGee had a blocked shot.
  • At the 10:57 mark, the Mustangs (1-6-1, 0-5-1 UCHC) tied the game at, 1-1, as Kendrick scored an unassisted goal.
  • Nazareth reclaimed the lead just eight seconds into a power play at the 13:38 mark before scoring 49 seconds later to take a 3-1 intermission lead.

  • The Golden Flyers scored two goals in the opening 2:39 of the middle frame before making it 6-1 at the 5:41 mark.
  • Kendrick netted her second goal of the game, a power play goal, at 7:02 on an assist from senior Cierra Siemasko after Kendrick buried a rebound off a Siemasko shot.
  • Just 1:05 later, Siemasko scored a shorthanded goal, the first of her career, to get the hosts back within three. Senior Maddy Ricci was credited with the assist.
  • The Mustangs had eight blocked shots in the period, including two by Ricci.

  • Both teams were 0-for-1 on the power play in the third period with Nazareth outshooting Stevenson, 10-6.
  • Junior Annie Smyth-Hammond made nine saves in the period while the defense had six blocked shots.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Friday, November 30 when the Mustangs travel to King's for a UCHC and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
  • The Mustangs return home on Saturday, January 5 when the team hosts a non-conference contest versus Wilkes beginning at 3:00 p.m.
