Box Score READING, Pa. - The Stevenson University women's volleyball team wrapped up the top seed in the MAC Commonwealth championship and at least a share of the league's regular season title with a 3-1 win over Alvernia at McCloskey Court Tuesday night. Set scores were 22-25, 25-8, 25-14, 25-16.
- Senior Moriah Savage recorded her 1,000th career kill, her first of the night, to give the Mustangs (18-11, 7-0 MAC Commonwealth) an early 6-5 lead.
- After going up 8-5, Alvernia (4-16, 0-7 MAC Commonwealth) used an 8-1 run to build a 13-9 lead. The Golden Wolves took advantage of four Stevenson attack errors.
- Alvernia led 16-11 when a 6-1 Mustang run capped by a Katie Leftridge service ace tied things 17-17.
- The Golden Wolves scored four straight points to take a 23-19 lead and a Paige Stern kill closed out the 25-22 win.
- Stevenson got out to a quick start, building leads of 10-1 and 13-2.
- Up 18-7, the Mustangs rattled off six straight points with Emily Pellini serving to go up 24-7.
- After a Mustang attack error, Leftridge's kill closed out the set, one in which Stevenson hit .560 with 15 kills and one error on 25 swings.
- The guests built an early 7-3 advantage before Alvernia clawed back to within 9-8.
- Stevenson took control with a 10-1 run that featured a pair of Pellini service aces.
- Chelsea Ireland and Rysleigh Reeves combined for two blocks during the run.
- A block by Victoria Prokic and Darian Hileman closed out the frame.
- Stevenson trailed 7-5 before five straight points gave it a 10-7 lead on a Leftridge service ace.
- The Mustangs clung to an 18-16 lead when they scored the final seven points of the match to seal the win.
- Savage had three kills during the match-sealing run while Ireland had a kill and Leftridge a service ace.
- Stevenson has won seven straight matches, extending its longest win streak of the season, and improved to 55-0 all-time in MAC Commonwealth regular season play.
- The Mustangs hit .443 over the final three sets and .345 for the match, while the Golden Wolves hit just .074.
- Savage hit .474 and finished with 10 kills. She now has 1,009 career kills.
- Leftridge posted her 11th double-double of the season and second straight with 17 kills and 18 digs. She hit .344 on the night.
- Ireland posted six kills and three blocks, while Reeves had five kills and three blocks.
- Pellini totaled seven service aces and had 15 digs. Her seven aces are the most by a Mustang this season.
- Julie Nightwine finished with 21 assists, while Caroline Dangel tallied 16.
- The Mustangs had 12 service aces as a team, tied for their second-highest total of the season.
- Stevenson will host a MAC Commonwealth semifinal on Wednesday, October 31 at 7 pm at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
