REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey senior Chelsea Blackburn netted her seventh career hat trick while classmates Monica Pozuc, Savannah Sommers and Kellen Wittman each recorded three points as the Mustangs downed King's (Pa.), 10-0, in an United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory Friday afternoon at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

It is the fourth time in program history the Mustangs (2-6-1, 1-1-1 UCHC) scored at least 10 goals while the 15 assists rank third in school history. It is also the 11th time that Stevenson has scored at least three power play goals in a game, which is tied for second all-time. The team's 72 shots also ranks sixth.

Stevenson, who is 1-0 in the MAC, scored four times in the opening period, with Blackburn opening the scoring just 3:22 into the game. Wittman netted her first goal of the season on an assist from senior Natalie Rosendahl before Sommers scored to push the lead to three. Pozuc then rounded out the first period scoring with a power play goal on an assist from freshman Trinity Barcless, her first point of her career.

The Mustangs scored two early goals in the second period as junior Cierra Siemasko scored on the power play before Wittman scored her second of the game. It is the third multi-goal game of Wittman's career and sixth multi-point game. Freshman Paige Stapleton picked up her first career point with an assist on Wittman's goal.

Blackburn ended the second period scoring and started the third to complete her hat trick. The senior finished the game with four points, marking the fourth time she has finished with at least four points in a game. Blackburn has totaled 24 multi-point games in her career and is now two points shy of 100.

Junior Allie Sabatini and senior Chelsea Ellis each scored in the third period as seven different players netted a goal.

Wittman finished with two goals and one assist while Pozuc totaled one goal and two assists. Sommers recorded one goal and two assists. In net, junior Caitie Darosa finished with 11 saves for her seventh career shutout.

The Mustangs outshot the Monarchs (0-6-1, 0-4-1 UCHC), 72-11, including 39-1 in the second period. The hosts finished 3-for-7 on the power play and killed off its one shorthanded situation. The Mustangs also won 47 of the 64 face-offs, with Blackburn and Ellis each winning 16 while Sabatini totaled 13.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, December 2 when the Mustangs host the second of a two-game series versus King's. Opening face-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
