Crist Reaches Double Figures in Third Straight Game, Mustangs Fall at Albright

Box Score

READING, Pa. – Albright College never trailed as it posted a wire-to-wire 75-53 MAC Commonwealth women's basketball victory over Stevenson University at the Bollman Center Wednesday evening.

Stevenson (3-3, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) was led by sophomore Hannah Crist, as she reached double figures for the third straight game with 10 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.  Senior Imani Sanders finished 4-8 from the floor and tallied nine points, while freshman Olivia Coleman notched eight points and grabbed eight rebounds.  Freshman Denia Campbell chipped in with eight points off the bench.

Albright (3-2, 1-0) was led by Devan Horka's 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.

The Lions scored the game's first seven points and held the Mustangs without a field goal for over four and a half minutes, with a Coleman basket at the 5:25 mark making it 7-3.  Albright led 17-8 with a minute to go in the first quarter, but a Jacobs basket and a running Sanders three-pointer as time expired cut the lead to four, 17-13, headed into the second stanza.

Albright used a 10-0 run to build a 28-15 lead on a Horka layup 6:45 before intermission.  The Mustangs whittled the lead down to eight, 28-20, on a Sanders basket at the 4:16 mark, before the Lions led by as many as 15 down the stretch and took a 39-26 lead into the locker room.

Stevenson cut Albright's lead to 10 four times in the third quarter, the last on a Coleman free throw with 2:08 left, but the Lions led 53-41 going into the fourth.  The hosts gradually pulled away over the final 10 minutes, leading by as many as 26.

Albright shot 47% overall and took 10 more trips to the free throw line, going 17-27 with the Mustangs going 11-17 at the charity stripe.  Stevenson shot 26.8% on the night.  The Lions outrebounded the visitors 53-32 and blocked nine Mustang shots on the evening.  Stevenson did commit a season-low 11 turnovers.

Stevenson plays its MAC Commonwealth home opener Saturday when it hosts Widener for a 1:00 contest at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
