Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University swept Elizabethtown College 3-0 in non-conference women's volleyball Tuesday evening at Owings Mills Gymnasium.  The Mustangs, who won their seventh in a row, won by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-13.

The win was the 14th straight at home for Stevenson (19-1), and it has won 27 of its last 28 home contests.  It is currently the nation's 12th-longest home winning streak.

In a first set that saw 11 ties and five lead changes, Stevenson took a 15-12 lead on a service ace by senior Deanna Bradbury that capped a run of three straight points by the Mustangs.  The Blue Jays (10-6) stormed back with four straight points of their own to go up 16-15.  The frame was tied 18-18 when Stevenson ran off six straight points to take a 24-18 lead.  Elizabethtown recorded the next two points to pull within 24-20, but a block by senior Lauren Weaver and sophomore Victoria Prokic closed out the frame.

Stevenson again pulled away late in the second set.  Clinging to a 16-15 lead, the Mustangs rattled off three straight points and back-to-back kills by Weaver put the hosts up 19-15.  Following an Elizabethtown kill, Stevenson strung together four more in a row, going up 23-16 on another kill by Weaver.  A service ace by sophomore Caroline Dangel closed out the set.

The hosts wasted no time in the final set, jumping out to an 11-6 lead following kills by senior Annika Schwartz and Weaver.  Elizabethtown scored the next two points to pull within three, but Stevenson ran off six straight and take a 17-8 lead on a block by Prokic and junior Moriah Savage.

Schwartz finished with 15 kills on .387 hitting and nine digs, while sophomore Katie Leftridge hit at a .320 clip and notched 12 kills and 14 digs.  Weaver had eight kills and four blocks, while Prokic tallied six blocks to go along with her four kills.  Senior Deanna Bradbury notched 15 digs, while Dangel recorded 15 assists and sophomore Julie Nightwine 14.

After hitting just .080 in the first set, the Mustangs hit .400 in the second set and .393 in the third to end the match at .250, finishing with 29 kills and just six attack errors over the final two frames after having nine attack miscues in the opening set.  Elizabethtown hit .084 for the match.
