Eleven Players Tally a Point in Mustangs 6-3 Win Over Lebanon Valley

Box Score

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - The Stevenson men's ice hockey team had eleven different players record a point as the Mustangs scored three third period goals en route to a 6-3 ECAC West victory over Lebanon Valley Tuesday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

The Mustangs (7-5-2, 3-4-1, ECAC West) are now unbeaten in their last five games and improve to 5-3-1 at home this season. The team also improves to 7-0-1 when scoring at least four goals in a game and a perfect 4-0-0 when scoring at least five.

The hosts got on the board first as junior Jordan Watt scored his fourth goal in the last five games on a centering pass from freshman Nick Bohatiuk. The line of Bohatiuk, Watt and junior Mike Davis have combined for eight points in the last three games together.

With just 1:03 remaining in the opening period, Bryan Hovanec leveled the game at 1-1 on assists from Jake Thomas and Matthew Reno.

Stevenson came out firing in the second period, scoring twice in the opening 1:24. Just 57 seconds into the period, freshman Mark Bowen scored on an assist from classmate Dominic Brenza before freshman Christian Ripley made it 3-1, 27 seconds later.

Brenza has a point in four of his last five games while Bowen has a point in three of his last four. Menawhile, Ripley extends his point streak to four games.

Freshmen Austin Swingle and Troy Sutherland picked up assists on Ripley's goal. Swingle now has a point in three of his last four games.

The Mustangs extended their lead to 5-1 with 7:07 remaining in the regulation as Brenza and freshman Jake Lainesse score third period goals. It is the first career goal for Lainesse who was assisted by freshmen Tyler Slusarczyk and Ian Malone.

After Stevenson put its second player in the box, the Dutchmen (3-9-2, 0-7-1 ECAC West) pulled their goalie in favor of an extra skater to make it a six-on-three power-play. The move paid off as Brad Nolan found the back of the net with 3:29 remaining.

Just 2:12 later, Lebanon Valley scored another power-play goal to get back within two with 1:17 remaining in regulation. But the Dutchmen's move to pull goalkeeper Joel Eisenhower again lead to an empty net goal for Bohatiuk.

Junior Jacob Caffrey finished with 26 saves in the win.

The Mustangs outshot Lebanon Valley, 44-29 while both team's won 40 face-offs. The Dutchmen finished 2-for-4 on the power-play while the hosts were 0-for-3.

Stevenson returns to action on Friday, January 13 when the Mustangs travel to Brockport for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
