Box Score 2 WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Stevenson University women's volleyball team picked up two MAC Commonwealth victories in a tri-match hosted by Lycoming College on Saturday. The Mustangs downed Hood by a 3-0 score, then swept the host Warriors by a similar score.
Against Hood (6-9, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth), Stevenson (11-7, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) prevailed by scores of 25-11, 25-15,25-21. The Mustangs, who snapped a five-match slide with Saturday's wins, defeated Lycoming (9-8, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) 25-14, 25-12, 25-11.
Junior Annika Schwartz had 10 kills and one error on 11 attempts for an .818 hitting percentage, while classmate Lauren Weaver finished with seven kills and senior Kristen Brooks six. Junior Deanna Bradbury totaled 12 digs, while senior Sara Bollinger handed out 15 assists to go along with six service aces. Freshman Julie Nightwine added 11 assists. The Mustangs hit .376 against the Blazers, including .593 in the second set with 17 kills and one error on 27 attempts.
Stevenson hit a season-high .420 on 69 attempts in the nightcap, posting 36 kills against just seven errors. Freshman Victoria Prokic led the way with eight kills on .583 hitting, while Weaver, Schwartz and Brooks all finished with six kills apiece. Prokic also had one solo block and three block assists. Bradbury and Bollinger each registered eight digs, with Bollinger finishing with 15 assists and Nightwine 11. As a team the Mustangs finished with 13 service aces, matching its third-highest total of the season.
With 16 kills today, Schwartz sits just 23 shy of 1,000 for her career.
Stevenson kicks off a four-match homestand Tuesday night when it hosts Arcadia University in a 7:00 MAC Commonwealth contest at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
