Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. - Stevenson field hockey freshman Tanner Ridgely scored her first career goal while sophomore Ashley Meyer scored for the second consecutive game as the Mustangs posted a 3-1 victory over local-rival McDaniel Tuesday evening at Gill Stadium.
With the win, the Mustangs (3-8) snapped their five-game losing streak while tying their season-high with three goals. Meanwhile, Stevenson has won the last two meetings versus McDaniel after losing the first eight game in the series.
Ridgely put the visitors on the board with just over 12 minutes left to play in the opening half as she put away a loose ball in front for an unassisted tally. Both teams totaled six shots in the period while the Mustangs held a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Senior Rosemarie Neiva scored her third goal of the season just 5:53 into the second half as sophomore Sara McVey centered the ball from the right end line. McVey has totaled a point in seven games this season.
The Green Terror (3-9) scored on one of their two shots in the period to get back within one but Stevenson responded 1:15 later as Meyer scored just her second career goal off a rebound attempt by sophomore Alexis Young.
Freshman Kelsey Eure finished with seven saves.
The Mustangs finished with a 12-8 advantage in shots and a 13-8 edge in penalty corners.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 15 when the Mustangs travel to Alvernia for a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 11:00 a.m.
