Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. - Sophomore Annika Schwartz and junior Kristen Brooks combined for 17 kills and 24 digs as the Stevenson women's volleyball team defeated McDaniel in straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13, on Wednesday evening at Gill Center.
This marks the seventh time the Mustangs (13-6) have swept their opponents this season and 106th time in their last 147 wins, dating back to the 2011 season.
Stevenson started the first set with four-straight points, with sophomore Deanna Bradbury totaling two service aces. Bradbury totaled four service aces in the game to bring her total to 36 on the year, a mark that ranks second in the conference. This is the third time this season and the fifth time in her career that she has totaled at least four services aces in a single match.
The two teams exchanged points before McDaniel (9-5) scored three-straight points to tie the game at 11-11. The Green Terror never took the lead, as the Mustangs outscored McDaniel 14-7 the rest of the way, finishing the set on back-to-back kills by sophomore Lauren Weaver.
Neither team hit well in the second set, but McDaniel totaled a -.043 attack percentage on nine errors.
McDaniel took their only lead of the day when they scored the first point of the final set on a Mustang error. Stevenson quickly responded on an 11-4 run that was highlighted by kills from Brooks and junior Sara Bollinger and a Bradbury service ace. The Mustangs steadily extended their lead throughout the set, closing it out with a 12-point lead, their largest margin of victory on the day.
The Mustangs return to action on Saturday October 3, when they travel to Eastern for a MAC Crossover event where they will take off the host and 10th-ranked Eagles and DeSales. Opening match is scheduled 10:00 a.m.
