Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - For the second-straight game, the Stevenson field hockey team scored with less than three minutes remaining as the Mustangs fought back from a one-goal deficit to defeat Gettysburg Wednesday evening at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.

The Mustangs (4-6) posted their fourth-straight victory and did so after trailing 2-1 with just over 10 minutes remaining. It was also the team's second-straight one goal win.

Junior Rosemarie Neiva put the visitors on the board first on a one-timer off a cross from freshman Sara McVey. Neiva scored for the fourth time in the last five games while McVey extended her point streak to five games.

The Bullets (3-5) tied the game at 1-1 later in the first half as Lily Neibart scored off a penalty corner for Gettysburg. Freshman Talia Parrish came up big in the opening half, totaling seven saves. She finished the game with a career-high 10.

Mari Bigley gave the hosts a one-goal advantage just over 10 minutes into the second half as her shot off a penalty corner beat Parish the left corner. The Bullets finished with a slight 9-8 advantage in penalty corners in addition to a 22-12 advantage in shots.

Eight of the Mustangs 12 goals were on net, including Neiva's second goal of the game in the 60th minute to knot the game at 2-2. Freshman Katelyn Byram picked up her first career point with an assist.

With just 1:38 remaining, freshman Alexis Young scored her second goal of the year for the game-winner. Neiva crossed the ball into the center of the field and Young was able to chip to ball over the goalie who came out to challenge the play.

It was just the third time this season the Mustangs were outshot.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 3 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus No. 20 Messiah beginning at 7:00 p.m.
