OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's volleyball freshman Chelsea Ireland totaled nine blocks while junior Kristen Brooks and sophomore Annika Schwartz combined for 44 kills and 56 digs as the Mustangs split with Johns Hopkins and Mary Washington Saturday afternoon at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

The Mustangs (10-3) defeated Johns Hopkins in a tight four sets, 24-26, 25-21, 27-25, 25-23 before falling to Mary Washington in four sets, 25-18, 16-25, 15-25, 17-25. The loss was just the third for Stevenson in its last 49 matches dating back to the 2011 season.

The trio of Brooks, Schwartz and sophomore Lauren Weaver combined for 39 of the teams 54 kills in the win over the Blue Jays (5-6). Together they have recorded 347 kills, which is good for 61.4 percent of the team's kills.

Both teams totaled 17 kills in the fourth set and Stevenson committed four more errors but the Mustangs totaled five of the final seven points, including two kills each by Ireland and Weaver. Meanwhile, Schwartz totaled three service aces for the fourth time this season.

Stephanie Yokoyama led Johns Hopkins with 29 digs while Ali Cox totaled 17 kills and 12 digs.

Against the Eagles (10-3), the Mustangs totaled a season-low .030 attack percentage and totaled 27 errors. The team also finished with a season-low three service aces and have totaled less than five service aces just four times this season. The team is 1-3 in those games.

Ireland finished with seven block assists to go along with four kills while Brooks totaled nine kills, 12 digs and four block assists.

Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 23 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Messiah beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs and Falcons have faced each other in three-straight conference championship games with Stevenson winning all three.
