Fisher, Roberts Lead Mustangs to Win at Lebanon Valley in Regular Season Finale

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Led by a combined 41 points by juniors Erik Fisher and Christian Roberts, the Stevenson men's basketball team held on to defeat Lebanon Valley, 76-73, in a Commonwealth Conference contest and regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Sorrentino Gymansium.

The Mustangs (17-8, 10-6 MAC), who snapped their three-game losing streak, finished in a four-way tie for second as Stevenson, Alvernia, Arcadia and Hood finished 10-6 in the conference. With the tiebreaker, the Mustangs are the second seed.

Led by three-straight three-pointers, including two by Fisher, Stevenson jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first 2:51 of the game. The Mustangs entered the game as the third best three-point shooting team in the conference.

After the Dutchmen (12-13, 6-10 MAC) cut their deficit to three, junior Christian Roberts hit the Mustangs fourth first half three-pointer to extend the visitor lead to 13-7.

A layup by senior Justin Kuntz followed by a free throw by sophomore Ryan Hill gave Stevenson an 18-13 lead with 11:16 remaining before a 9-0 run by Lebanon Valley gave the hosts its first lead of the day.

Senior Colby Giacubeno stopped the run with a baseline jumper for the Mustangs first field goal in a 4:38 span. Stevenson would reclaim the lead following five-straight points by Kuntz, including his first three-point field goal of the season and just the fourth of his career.

Following a three-pointer by Travis Conrad to give the hosts a 27-25 lead, Stevenson went on a 8-0 run highlighted by six points by Fisher. The Dutchmen made just one field goal over the final 4:52 of the first half as the Mustangs led 35-31 at the break.

After a three-pointer by Travis Conrad, the fifth of the game for the Dutchmen, cut the hosts deficit to one in the first 2:19 of the second half, Stevenson was forced to call a timeout. Out of the break, the Mustangs went on a 13-3 run, including seven points by Roberts.

Back-to-back layups by Nick Pappas brought Lebanon Valley within one, 70-69, with 2:39 remaining.

With the Mustangs leading 74-69, Kevin Agnew hit a jumper with 53 seconds remaining before hitting two free throws with 8.9 seconds left to trail 74-73. With the Dutchmen needing to foul, Giacubeno was sent to the line and hit both free throws to push Stevenson's lead back to three.

Lebanon Valley had a chance to tie the game as the clock was expiring but the Dutchmen committed their 10th turnover of the game with two seconds on the clock.

The Mustangs shot 55.6 percent from the field and 61.5 percent beyond the arc.

Fisher, who was held to just single digits for the third time this season on Saturday, finished with a team-high 21 points. Roberts, who was 8-for-11 from the field, finished with 20 points.

Agnew totaled a game-high 27 points.

Second-seeded Stevenson will host third-seeded Hood in the Commonwealth Conference semifinals on Wednesday, February 25. Game time TBA.
