Abbott, Webber Score, Mustangs Fall at No. 9 SUNY Oswego in Season Finale

| Box Score 2

OSWEGO, N.Y. - Stevenson women's ice hockey juniors Katie Abbott and Brooke Webber each netted second-period tallies, but three power play goals against the nation's second-ranked penalty kill unit carried No. 9 SUNY Oswego to a 5-2 victory Saturday at at Marano Campus Center Arena.

Despite finishing the season with two losses, Stevenson (16-8-1) posted the best season in the program's brief three-year history, posting 16 wins which was two more than its first two seasons combined.

The Lakers (18-4-1) scored the game's first four goals, including the last three in a span of just 3:49. Leading scorer Olivia Ellis scored the first goal at 15:32 of the first period before Alexa Aramburu scored on the power play with just one second remaining.

Oswego carried the momentum over to the second period where the Lakers added two more goals in the first four minutes. Ashley Lyman scored at 2:53 before Andrea Noss coverted another power play opportunity just 55 seconds later to give Oswego a 4-0 lead.

Abbott would finally get the Mustangs on the board at 5:20 off an assist from junior Erin McLoughlin for her 10th goal of the season before Webber picked up her fifth goal of the season only three minutes later to cut their deficit in half with over 11 minutes left in the second.

However, that would be as close as Stevenson would get while Brianna Rice added another power play tally for Oswego at 5:11 of the third period.

The Lakers converted on three of their four power-play opportunities while the nation's leading penalty killing unit killed off all three of the Mustangs' man-advantage opportunities.

Bridget Smith made 29 saves for Oswego while junior Anastassia Nelson had 24 for Stevenson.
