Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Highlighted by a career-high five service aces by sophomore Annika Schwartz, the Stevenson women's volleyball team swept Gallaudet for the Mustangs seventh-straight victory Wednesday evening at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (20-7) posted their 10th straight-set victory this season with a 25-18, 25-16, 26-24 victory. The team improved to 64-7 all-time in Owings Mills Gymnasium with 49 of those wins coming in straight-sets. It was also the sixth-consecutive straight-sets win over the Bison.
Schwartz started the match with back-to-back service aces before sophomore Deanna Bradbury added one of her own to make it 4-3. Tied 4-4, Stevenson won nine of the next 10 points to extend its lead to eight.
Gallaudet (14-8) would not get any closer as the Bison hit -.057 in the opening set with seven kills and nine errors.
It was all Stevenson in the second set as freshman Moriah Savage totaled four kills on eight attempts and junior Kelsey Stave totaled two of her three block assists. Schwartz and sophomore Megan Hren also recorded service aces.
With the Mustangs leading 23-17 in the third, the Bison went on a 6-0 run on the serve of TraciAnn Hoglind to tie the game at 23-23. The two teams traded the next two points before junior Kristen Brooks and freshman Lauren Jan finished with back-to-back kills.
Jan finished with two kills and two block assists while Brooks recorded seven kills and eight digs. Bradbury totaled a match-high 20 digs for her fourth-straight game with 20-plus digs.
Junior Sara Bollinger recorded 28 assist, seven digs and three service aces.
Darriyan Thomas led the Bison with a match-high 15 kills while adding 13 digs. Raelyn Guechtmann totaled 18 digs.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 17 when the Mustangs host a non-conference tri-match with Franklin & Marshall and Rowan beginning at 1:30 p.m.
