Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's volleyball sophomore Annika Schwartz totaled 33 kills, 22 digs, six service aces and a .301 attack percentage as the Mustangs posted back-to-back MAC Commonwealth victories over Hood and Lycoming Saturday afternoon at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (18-7, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) improved their record 31-0 in the conference and 62-7 inside Owings Mills Gymnasium with a 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 25-13 win over Hood and a 25-13, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17 victory versus Lycoming.
After a back-and-forth start to the opening set versus Hood (11-9, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth), Stevenson won 11 of the final 13 points, including three kills by Schwartz. Both teams hit poorly in the opening game but the Blazers finished with 10 errors and six kills compared to nine kills and three errors for the Mustangs.
Behind two service aces by sophomore Karin Schleimer, Stevenson jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the second set as Hood never held a lead. The Mustangs hit .600 in the game, totaling 14 kills on 20 attempts. Schleimer finished with a career-high five service aces.
Neither team would lead by more than three points in the third set as Hood held the lead for most of the game. But the fourth set was all Stevenson as the Mustangs won 12 of the first 16 points and led by at least six the rest of the way.
Schwartz recorded 17 kills, 11 digs and three service while totaling a .500 attack percentage in the win over the Blazers.
Against the Warriors (15-8, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth), Schwartz finished with 16 kills, 11 digs and three service aces while freshman Moriah Savage recorded 13 kills and four block assists.
Sophomore Deanna Bradbury finished the day with 46 combined digs, with 26 against Lycoming. Bradbury has totaled at least 20 digs in eight matches this season.
Stevenson returns to action on Tuesday, October 23 when the Mustang host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Widener beginning at 7:00 p.m.
